About Kate Davies
Kate trained as a graphic designer at Salisbury Art College. She has worked in the art, design and photography professions ever since.
Her understanding and experience of the design world has grown over the years to include creating logos for corporate branding; layouts for newspapers and magazines; stage design and props; packaging; marketing; advertising; exhibitions; copy-writing; publicity, web design and print.
During this time, she has made maximum use of her experiences by using art as therapy to encourage confidence through Retreats, and Big Draws for families to be creative together by bonding and communicating.
She now teaches fine art and print at Milton Keynes College, where she enjoys sharing her accumulated knowledge whilst learning from her students too!
BIG DRAW For over ten years Kate and her illustrator brother Jonny Boatfield have run popular Big Draw Arts Workshops where up to 500 family members attend over the day.
MURAL When two buildings in her home town burnt down, she initiated a painting party led by Jonny Boatfield involving the townspeople to paint a 16metre mural on the hoardings surrounding the destroyed buildings to help make the town look more attractive and increase footfall.wing with fabulous results!
Over the years, Kate has become increasingly aware of the stress suffered by staff in the workplace. Wanting to increase wellbeing and reduce negativity in the workplace, Kate now runs Day Retreats in a peaceful 17th century manor house in Bedfordshire, where gentle restorative yoga is mixed with a glass of bubbly, good company and art.
She wants people to find themselves again. So often she hears guests say they haven't done art since school because they were told they were no good. With some fun ways of approaching and experimenting with simple techniques, all of sudden everyone is completely absorbed in observing and drawing with fabulous results!
